One reason your time management may not be serving you
Quick update and idea for you. Over dinner at our Mind Vault Intensive last month, an idea that came up is the distinction between manager’s time and maker’s time.
If you don’t get this distinction and put it into practice, you are likely leaving a lot of opportunity untapped.
Manager’s Time: Short time blocks of meetings — largely used to manage the work of others.
Maker’s Time: Large blocks of uninterrupted time to make things — things that are hard to do. Meetings are very distracting for the creative process.
Think about it. Where and when do you get your best creative ideas — the ones that create big opportunities or solve big challenges?
For me, big ideas often come after I teach Gracie Jiu-Jitsu or go on a long hike at Hemlock Bluffs, a nature preserve near my house.
The key for me is large chunks of uninterrupted time where my mind can wander.
Give yourself permission to block out large chunks of maker’s time.
The only reason it feels weird to do so is your habit of working in manager’s time and the paradigm of how we are supposed to work.
