Rollin'-with the-changes-and-Why-not-you?

Why not you?

In the first weeks of 2015 I’ve talked with several entrepreneurial CEOs who are looking ahead — not just to 2015, but to 2020 and beyond.

A big question on their minds is “what’s next?”

Here’s a thread from our conversations that has big implications for you and your business.

Imagine you were to rewind the clock five years back to January 2010 — and then look ahead to where we are right now in January 2015.

What would we notice?

Rollin'-with the-changes-and-Why-not-you?

Well for one thing, five years ago, Uber didn’t exist.

Uber first launched their mobile app-based ride-sharing service in June 2010.

Now, five years later, Uber is operating in 200 cities in 53 countries. In 2015, Uber is expected to generate $2B in net revenue on gross revenue of $10B (what the customer pays for the transportation).

And Uber has a market valuation of approximately $40 Billion.

Yes, that is Billion, with a B.

Zero to $40 Billion in market value in less than five years.

What does this mean for your company?

Well, if you are looking ahead to 2020, consider not just the possibility, but the likelihood, that something will come along in the next five years that will be completely disruptive …

AND IT DOESN’T EXIST YET!

What does this mean for you personally?

One of the individuals I spoke to said: I think someone is going to come along and completely disrupt our industry.

Late at night, I wonder, why couldn’t that person be me?

My response:

Why not you?

My bet is that if you are reading this, you have some pretty big ideas inside of you that could create massive value.

Maybe these are Uber-big ideas that change an entire industry or ….

maybe they just disrupt your little corner of the universe.

If you’d like help creating what’s next, let me know. Because it can be you.

  1. Hello Ron! I love what you have to say about looking back and looking ahead for 5 years. You really get me to think with your blogs. Short and very succinct, very provocative. Even though I may not hire you as a coach I take much meaning from your posts! 2015 and beyond!

    Best!
